The Sun Emits UV Radiation
-
UVA
- UVA rays penetrate to the DEEPEST LAYERS of your skin, causing aging, sagging, and spotting.
- We receive 10X the exposure to UVA rays than UVB.
- UVA radiation accounts for 95% of the radiation that reaches the surface of the earth.
- Unlike UVB rays, UVA rays hit us in a STEADY, CONSISTENT stream during each day.
- 10AM to 4PM are the most critical hours for sun protection.
-
UVB
- UVB rays penetrate to the TOP LAYERS of your skin, causing burning.
- Window glass will block UVB radiation, but it won’t block UVA radiation.
- UVB radiation is strongest between April to June
- VARY IN INTENSITY depends on time of the day.
- 10AM to 4PM is when we are hit with the most UVB radiation.
